FIELD SERVICES MECHANIC

Opt Hire is a well-established Equipment Hire business providing solutions to the Construction, Civil, Retail and Event Management industries in Victoria and Queensland. 

Due to rapid growth, we are seeking two experienced Field Services  Mechanics, one based in Melbourne’s North and the second one based in the South East of Melbourne. These roles come with a fully maintained ute, kitted out with required tools and equipment and you can expect to be on the road most of the day but will require some time to be spent in the workshop for urgent repairs, troubleshooting or maintenance.

 

Position Objective

 

Assist the Workshop Manager by ensuring all aspects of equipment maintenance, servicing and repairs are completed effectively and efficiently, along with basic set up and troubleshooting.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Major and minor servicing of tools and equipment,
  • Tool and equipment repairs and rebuilds
  • Provide basic scheduled and unscheduled services to small tools and equipment (filters, pull cords, etc),
  • Maintain a high standard & quality of tools and equipment,
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment over the phone or in person,
  • Assist and conduct basic yard duties incl. cleaning, organising, relocating equipment,
  • Receiving of spare parts and other incendiaries,
  • Maintain equipment records electronically or hardcopy,
  • All other tasks requested by your supervisor within your skill set/competency

 

What you will need:

 

  • Experience in maintaining plant equipment, small tools and maintenance around the depot,
  • Mechanically minded, experience in a warehouse & basis welding,
  • Experienced in servicing and maintaining 240 Volt Generators, light towers
  • Ability to follow instructions, communicate at a professional level and be a team player,
  • Be physically fit and pass a pre-employment medical,
  • Be open to learning and developing skills,
  • White Card – Construction Industry & ideally a Forklift license,
  • Sound knowledge of WHS,
  • Strong work ethic, be reliable and have values in the workplace,
  • Demonstrate safety leadership and collaboration in a team environment,
  • Able to multitask where needed
